The Data Science of Board Games @ PAX West

I had the great privilege to give a talk on using data science on data from the board gaming world this year at PAX West. The source data and code used in the talk can be found my github account: https://github.com/scottburger/pax17. The presentation slides can be found below:

Over 300 people showed up to the talk, about 300 more than I expected! The audience laughed at my stupid jokes and looked interested in my hard-to-see graphs even. Great questions after the session made for the best PAX I’ve gone to yet.

Meeting new people and playing Terraforming Mars was fun too. Once you understand what you’re doing in that game, it’s a blast. Look forward to seeing what data I can bring to the PAX forums next year!
